CUB Cafe & Bistro is a renovation project on an old building from some time around the 1980s. We wanted the project to have the feel of an old establishment from the 60s, but with a twist - the twist being the modern and neon lighting fixtures and designs. Therefore, only some neon lights and classic styled artworks are allowed on the exterior of this building.
The entrance and corridor stairs serve as the transtitonal areas, so we only light up these areas with neon lights and signs which also gives a sense of mystery and anticipation of what the coming area would look like.
Each floor of this project serves a different purpose with the 2nd floor being CUB Cafe & Bistro. We designed this area to give off the vibes of an old cafe from the 1900s by using lots of wooden materials and furnitures, local traditional decortative items, vintage lighting fixtures, and warm and cozy lightings. There is also an outdoor area where customers can enjoy their coffee while looking out into the city below.
The third floor is CUB Bar & Bistro. One unique design here is how the stage is set behind the counter. This way, the customers can be more immersed and are able to enjoy the music upclose. When the night comes, the mood of the place switches into more of a pub with its extra lightings.
The rooftop floor has an entertainment area, as well as its own rooftop stage. The entertainment area which is indoors has darts, snooker pools, and a display screen where customers can watch football. The outdoor area functions as a skybar where customers can enjoy food, drinks, and the view of the city from the top floor.
